This position could take place at any of the following locations: 465 Jutras Drive South, Lakeshore, Ontario N8N 5C4 6775 Hawthorne Drive, Windsor, ON, N8T 3B8 5000 Regal Drive, Windsor, Ontario N0R 1L0 2030 North Talbot Road, Windsor, Ontario N9A 6J3 Job Summary In support of the Mission and Vision of SyBridge Technologies, Inc., the Mold Maker Apprentice is responsible for various duties within the department such as manufacturing components for molds using a 2D detail, a Bridgeport, automatic/ manual surface grinder and manual lathe for SyBridge Technologies.  Reporting to the Mold Maker Leader, the Mold Maker ensures quality is a priority each time while also achieving deadlines and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Build/fabricate mold components which includes but is not limited to; rough-out mold components, stabilize work piece material, produce cores, produce lifters, inserts, and slides, produce cavities, produce detailed parts, perform final inspection, complete work documentation, maintain material identification, and move work piece. Fit and assemble a mold which includes, but is not limited to; transfer and locate holes, fit and size mold components, check cooling and heating circuits, install mold components in the spotting press, spot the mold, final-inspect mold, install ejector system components, install runner system components, check assembled mold, move work piece, and complete work documentation. Finish /polish the molding surface which includes, but is not limited to; identify and select hand-finishing tools, clean and deburr mold surface, detail the work piece, remove tool and cutter marks, verify contours of the work piece, final-finish the mold surface, complete work documentation, and move work piece. Build, and repair molds and models used to mass produce plastic or metal components or products. Perform work-in-progress measuring or checking using specialized and precision tools and equipment. Make all appropriate personnel aware of any potential tooling problems, issues or questions. Maintain a clean workspace and organization of materials. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs using provided paper and/or electronic logs. Verify tooling stock materials, produce a detailed sketch of mold components, build tooling aids for mold-building process, lay out template(s), and produce templates. Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and work-process documentation Build precision mold components using conventional and numerically controlled metal-cutting machines and equipment including saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, and EDMs. Use the overhead crane to transport molds / mold components through the shop and set up molds in presses (weight up to 50,000lbs). Use the forklift to transport molds / mold components throughout the shop and prepare them for tryouts (weight up to 5,000lbs). Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent is required. (0-3) years of related experience as a mold maker. Must be registered with Skilled Trade Ontario Apprenticeship Program (429A and 431A) or is looking for sponsorship. Sybridge can provide sponsorship after successful completion of 90 days. Capable of operating lather, Bridgeport and surface grinder. Possesses basic math skills. Reading and understanding a 2Ddetail. Reading a micrometer/ Vernier caliper, holding a tolerance. Working in both metric and standard dimensions. Holding safe practices using machinery. Willing to train above skills. Confident in using precision measuring and gauging tools. Overhead crane and forklift experience is an asset. Ability to perform under pressure and work independently. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as required. Ability to ensure quality standards are met. Strong attention to detail is required. Strong time management, teamwork, cleanliness and communication skills a must.
