Job Overview
The Prototypes - HealthRIGHT 360 Domestic Violence Resource Center is funded by the Department of Public Health and Department of Public Social Services to assist DV survivors achieve safety, empowerment, employment, and self-sufficiency. The Domestic Violence Resource Center is a community-based center for low-income survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence. We provide strength-based and trauma-informed case management support, legal services, and advocacy. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes DV Case Managers, Mental Health Therapists, and Attorneys. The ideal candidate is trauma informed, holds a 40-Hour DV Advocate Certificate, and experienced in working with low income victims of crime.
The DV Case Manager will provide individual and group domestic violence services including intensive case management, safety planning, goal setting, assistance with housing and shelter, intimate partner violence prevention education, counseling and support groups, and advocacy. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes DV Case Managers, Mental Health Therapists, and Attorneys. The ideal candidate is trauma informed, holds a 40-Hour DV Advocate Certificate, and experienced in working with low income families.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct outreach and engagement of DV survivors who qualify for services under the DPSS contract. Provide Domestic Violence services through individual sessions. Facilitate groups such as DV 101, Self-Esteem, Healthy Relationships, Life Skills, Parenting, etc. Conduct Intake Assessment: identify strengths, prioritize needs, and collaboratively develop a Case Plan. Case planning: develop goals and timeline to achieve goals with client (including employment/vocational assistance and referrals). Reassess and revise service plan every 3 months; and follow-up with clients to assess for additional services (i.e. legal assistance or mental health). Safety planning: ongoing follow-up to help client keep their family safe from violence. Client Advocacy: phone calls, coordination of services on behalf of the clients. Empowerment and motivation to follow their case plan and engage in behaviors that will prevent family violence. Provide case management including making referrals, linking clients to supportive services, removing barriers to accessing services, and following-up on connections. Case management services includes linkage and assistance with housing, benefits, employment, education, transportation, childcare, medical and other concrete services. Maintain network of mental health, health, social service substance abuse and domestic violence referrals. Provide empathetic support and feedback when working with DV survivors that is trauma informed and culturally competent. Avert crises by assisting the family in times of urgent need. Responsible for maintaining all clinical documentation at a high standard, completed in a timely manner, and completed accurately.
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, education, or other related field. Required: 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Certification. Minimum 2 years’ experience with high-risk families who have DV and/or complex needs. Experience with evidence-based, culturally competent, gender responsive, and trauma informed services. Dependable automobile, California Driver's License, and valid car insurance. Must be able to pass background/criminal check. In compliance with the California Department of Public Health's mandate, all employees must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Medical and religious exemptions are available.
