We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time. About the Role We’re hiring a Talent Partner to help build the team at Base. You’ll initially focus on Ops & G&A hiring, with the opportunity to expand into broader business, field operations, technical, and leadership recruiting over time. We’re looking for someone who can operate as a true generalist and eventually recruit across the company as we scale. This is not a back-office recruiting role. Talent Partners at Base sit alongside founders and hiring managers, own searches end-to-end, and directly shape who joins the company. You’ll be a strategic partner to the business, a steward of our talent bar, and one of the people responsible for building the company itself. Prior recruiting experience is not required. We care more about judgment, drive, communication, and the ability to learn the craft quickly than whether you’ve held a recruiting title before. Many of the best recruiters are exceptional operators first. What You’ll Do Own searches end-to-end, with clear accountability for hiring outcomes — including pipeline conversion, time-to-hire, and long-term quality of hire. Partner closely with hiring managers to define what great looks like for each role: the must-haves, the differentiators, and the deal-breakers. Design and continuously refine interview processes alongside hiring managers to maximize signal quality, interviewer calibration, candidate experience, and speed — ensuring clear evaluation criteria, structured feedback, rigorous decision-making, and continuously improving areas where the process creates noise, inconsistent signal, or unnecessary drag. Build top-of-funnel directly through outbound sourcing. Most of our best hires come from proactive outreach, not inbound applications. Run every stage of the candidate process, from first conversation through close. Develop strong judgment on talent and maintain a consistently high hiring bar across the company. Influence candidates effectively and honestly — helping exceptional people understand the opportunity while building trust throughout the process. Help build the talent function as we scale, including interview design, hiring rubrics, compensation philosophy, and recruiting playbooks. What You'll Bring Experience in high-performance environments such as consulting, finance, sales, startups, operations, athletics, or the military. A track record of running pipelines, managing relationships, influencing outcomes, and consistently hitting ambitious targets. Strong judgment and interpersonal instincts. You can quickly assess talent, calibrate across stakeholders, and build trust with candidates and hiring managers alike. Exceptional organization and follow-through. You operate with urgency and don’t let details slip. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfort with selling and persuasion — specifically in a way that is direct, credible, and grounded in honesty. Excitement about operating in a high-intensity, high-accountability environment with ambitious goals and a fast pace. About the Team The Talent team at Base is small, lean, and deeply embedded in the business. We operate as true partners to founders and hiring managers, not as a support function. Each Talent Partner owns searches end-to-end and has direct visibility into the company’s highest-priority hiring decisions. We also help define the company from the very first conversation with a candidate. We set expectations around pace, ownership, and performance. We help candidates understand the mission and what excellence looks like at Base. And we maintain the standard for who joins the team. Every hiring decision shapes the company’s talent density.
