Responsibilities What you'll be able to do: Vehicle Thermal Systems CAE Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. A Vehicle Thermal Systems CAE Engineer is responsible for analyzing the vehicle climate system that cools and heats the vehicle cabin and battery. The engineer will use various CAE methods to quantify component and system level design impacts on climate system performance and power consumption. Specific studies may include vehicle level climate performance predictions, refrigerant subsystem analysis, heater subsystem analysis, front end airflow, power consumption analysis, and review of physical test data. Domestic Travel Required up to 10%. Qualifications You'll have… Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Testing, analyzing, and designing automotive thermal systems utilizing concepts from fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heater transfer, and combustion. 2. Modeling and conducting thermal/fluid CAE simulations using Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or GT-Suite. 3. Utilizing CAD software tools including CATIA or Teamcenter to view or modify vehicle systems and components. 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Testing and analyzing vehicle climate control performance using thermal data acquisition systems, CANoe, or MATLAB to validate test results and support CAE model development. 2. Designing Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) thermal systems using one of the following thermal modeling applications: Fluent, STAR-CCM, or GT- Suite. We are offering a salary of $125,362.00 - $166,200.00/yr.
