This position is 0.93 FTE, working 1,934 annual hours. This position reports directly to the Head Baseball Coach and is one of the primary assistant coaches for the Baseball Program.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES</span><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Coaching &amp; Player Development (50%)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist the Head Coach with practice planning, execution, and on-field instruction with individual players, position-specific groups, and full team settings.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist in developing and implementing game plans, reports, strategies and on-field duties as assigned.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Perform coaching duties during pre-game and in-game based on assigned responsibilities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Serve as a mentor, teacher, leader, and role model to student-athletes.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Recruitment (25%)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist in all phases of the recruiting process, specifically the scouting and evaluation of skilled and academically qualified student-athletes.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist and lead all aspects of camps, clinics, tournaments, and other events that support the recruitment of potential student-athletes.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Team Operations (10%)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Support and lead coordination of team events on campus and while traveling.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist in monitoring academic progress and serve as a program liaison for campus colleagues.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Work within program financial parameters to coordinate logistics accordingly, including but not limited to transportation, travel accommodations, equipment, apparel, and more.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Outreach &amp; Representation (5%)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Support and lead coordination of alumni and community programming.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Represent the College and its athletics program with honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship at all times to various institutional programs and students, parents, the general public, alumni, and external agencies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Develop positive, professional relationships with officials, league personnel, coaching colleagues, and administrative staff.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Compliance &amp; Safety (5%)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Comprehend, understand, and work within the parameters of Whitman College, the NWC and NCAA Division III philosophy and rules.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Is proactive pertaining to all aspects of safety, including injury prevention, risk management, and the proper use of facilities and equipment. Maintains a safe and inclusive environment for student-athletes by identifying potential hazards, modeling best practices, and ensuring timely reporting of accidents or concerns.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Responsible for 40 hours of game management responsibilities as assigned by the Event Management Director.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Evolving Responsibilities (5%)</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\"><br>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &amp; ABILITIES</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Must be able to explain and/or demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
