Applicants possessing a State of Alabama POST Certification must be three (3) years or more past graduation date listed on APOST certificate;</p>\n<p>3. Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit;</p>\n<p>4. Ability to pass a thorough background check</p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualification:</strong>Fluent in Spanish</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Performs a variety of law enforcement duties in the preservation of public peace and prevention of crimes, including protecting life and property, enforcing all laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, making arrests, providing credible testimony in various courts, conducting traffic surveys to determine problem areas, assisting in school and community functions, as well as, public relations activities, and other cases as assigned.</p>\n<h2>Supplemental Information</h2>\n<p><strong>As only one application can be submitted per candidate for a particular job posting, please make certain that your application meets the minimum requirements <u>at the time of application</u>. </strong> </p>\n<p><u>All candidates</u> must provide a copy of their current POST certification. These documents must be electronically attached to your application. <u>Applications lacking the appropriate documentation will not be forwarded to the Police Department for further evaluation.</u> <strong>EMPLOYMENT PROCESS</strong> </p>\n<p>Police Officer candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be further screened through our evaluation process, which considers related work experience, education, certifications and special training.  Police Officer candidate finalists will then be evaluated based on personal interviews.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>In order to be eligible for employment with the Hoover Police Department a candidate must successfully complete the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test. </strong> You can view the Physical Abilities/Agilities requirements at the following website - http://www.apostc.state.al.us.
