Responsibilities To provide medication and medical management for patients engaged in a continuum of services aimed at providing an array of behavioral health services. Provide the patient and referring clinician with a thorough medical-psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and synthesis of medical care. Essential Job Functions Primary duty requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance Provide psychiatric and medical assessment and offer treatment services to adults and/or children in a community clinic setting Provide ongoing training and medication education to the patient and their natural supports (as appropriate); at a minimum, patient education occurs at time of first prescribing and whenever a change in medication is made Document reported medication reactions; documents and reports medical errors Evaluate co-existing medical conditions for potential health impact Document review of behavioral health history, current health status, medication use profile, medication allergies, and medication adverse reactions for patients Help empower each patient to actively participate with the treatment team to promote recovery, progress or well-being Responsible for clinical supervision, education and training of behavioral health team Assist in the development, maintenance and supervision of medication and psychiatric and medical treatment policies and procedures Exercise independent medical judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of adults and/or children. Work in close contact with referring clinician and primary care clinician in the patient's care to provide an expert treatment plan Provide medication monitoring for patients, reviewing use of medication to determine appropriateness, presence of side effects, medical interactions, etc. at a minimum of once every 90 days Participate in departmental and organizational meetings, as appropriate Maintain good standing in issues of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice and professional standards Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature review, in-service meetings and workshops Support the vision, mission and goals, and demonstrate a commitment to the values, of the organization. Qualifications Minimum Graduate of a recognized school of medicine. Valid California medical license as MD or DO Psychiatrist with Medicare and California Medicaid numbers prior to start of employment Board certified or eligible. Current DEA license. Authorized to practice psychiatry in California Certified as a diplomat in the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry Completion of a psychiatric residency or family medicine/psychiatry residency in an ACGME approved residency program Valid California driver’s license and vehicle insurance; reliable transportation Preferred Bilingual English/Spanish Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Basic computer knowledge, MS Office programs, intenet use and business e-mail communication systems Salary $140.00 - $165.00 per hour, depending on experience
