    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or designee, the Research Associate I provides operational support to the laboratory. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em><strong>the Research Associate I will perform a variety of complex research experiments in a laboratory that uses the mouse to model human cancer, bone marrow failure and inflammatory disease.</strong></em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform laboratory experiments and may be responsible for a single research project</li>\n <li>Utilize all software relevant to experiment and equipment used</li>\n <li>Interpret data, form conclusions and decide on next steps under the direction of the PI or designee</li>\n <li>Maintain accurate records, may modify protocols with the approval of the PI or designee</li>\n <li>Review literature, publications and grants relevant to assigned projects</li>\n <li>Record results according to established lab, sponsor & university protocol</li>\n <li>Assist with performing data analysis and/or mathematical computations</li>\n <li>Maintain a detailed lab notebook according to lab practice</li>\n <li>Present findings at lab/group meetings</li>\n <li>Monitor laboratory supply levels and order as noted</li>\n <li>Prepare and label buffers, media, solutions, etc.</li>\n <li>Assist with and comply with all safety regulation and infection control standards</li>\n <li>Train on IACUC, IRB, EHS, Radiation safety protocols</li>\n <li>Comply with all applicable state, federal university, and sponsor policies and agreements</li>\n <li>Provide support with identifying problems and challenges, propose resolutions, implement appropriate solutions</li>\n <li>Provide support with drafting standard operation procedures in compliance to EHS regulation specific for the lab</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as required</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Biological or Natural Science, or equivalent experience</li>\n <li>Basic understanding of lab safety and protocols</li>\n <li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office products</li>\n <li>Ability to analyze data in a quantitative and objective manner.</li>\n <li>Ability to work in a team environment</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Information</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Experience in mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, real time quantitative PCR, western blotting, genomic PCR, immunohistochemistry, ELISA preferred</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p>\n<p>Work with mice and human cells and tissues required. Can provide training in these areas if necessary.</p>",
