This position may report to either Akron, OH, Connellsville, PA, or Union Beach, NJ.</p><p>FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location.&nbsp; In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.</p><p>The estimated pay range for this role in OH, PA, WV, MD is $103,275 - $145,800.</p><p>The estimated pay range for this role in NJ is $123,930- $174,960.</p><p><strong>Relay&nbsp;and&nbsp;Controls&nbsp;Instructor&nbsp;/&nbsp;Adv&nbsp;Relay&nbsp;and&nbsp;Controls&nbsp;Instructor</strong></p><p>This position is in the Regional Workforce Development group and reports to the Supervisor, Relays &amp; Controls Training. The Relay Instructor will provide training to Regional Operations employees.&nbsp;The&nbsp;primary&nbsp;focus&nbsp;for&nbsp;this&nbsp;position&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;training&nbsp;of&nbsp;incumbent&nbsp;and&nbsp;incoming&nbsp;Relay personnel as well as candidates enrolled through the in-house Relay training program.</p><p>An employee hired at the Advanced Relay &amp; Controls Instructor level will be expected to perform&nbsp;all of the&nbsp;below&nbsp;responsibilities&nbsp;with&nbsp;more&nbsp;proficiency, and&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;more&nbsp;independent manner.&nbsp;Further,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Advanced&nbsp;Relay&nbsp;Instructor&nbsp;level&nbsp;employee&nbsp;will&nbsp;be&nbsp;assigned&nbsp;additional responsibilities related to those listed above, including, but not limited to:</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Supporting&nbsp;the&nbsp;design,&nbsp;development,&nbsp;and&nbsp;implementation&nbsp;activities&nbsp;of&nbsp;effective&nbsp;training&nbsp;materials and programs.</li><li>Delivering&nbsp;training&nbsp;in&nbsp;both&nbsp;formal&nbsp;classroom&nbsp;settings&nbsp;as&nbsp;well&nbsp;as&nbsp;field&nbsp;settings.</li><li>Coordinating&nbsp;and&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;training&nbsp;facilities,&nbsp;equipment&nbsp;and&nbsp;hardware.</li><li>Handling&nbsp;administrative&nbsp;duties&nbsp;including&nbsp;training&nbsp;documentation,&nbsp;reports&nbsp;and&nbsp;attendance&nbsp;records.</li><li>Supporting&nbsp;system-wide&nbsp;training&nbsp;needs&nbsp;on&nbsp;an&nbsp;as-needed&nbsp;basis.</li><li>Leading&nbsp;the&nbsp;design,&nbsp;development,&nbsp;and&nbsp;implementation&nbsp;activities&nbsp;of&nbsp;effective&nbsp;training&nbsp;materials and programs.</li><li>Mentoring&nbsp;associates&nbsp;and/or&nbsp;instructors&nbsp;through&nbsp;observation,&nbsp;providing&nbsp;feedback&nbsp;and&nbsp;written documentation.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Associate&nbsp;degree&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;related&nbsp;technical&nbsp;/&nbsp;electrical&nbsp;/&nbsp;or&nbsp;engineering&nbsp;discipline&nbsp;and&nbsp;6&nbsp;plus&nbsp;years of related&nbsp;field experience. In lieu of a degree,&nbsp;8&amp;#43; years of technical knowledge obtained through related experience is required. Related experience would include field operations work in either substation, lines or relay work in a industrial or commercial distribution environment.</li><li>Workforce&nbsp;Development&nbsp;approved&nbsp;Instructor&nbsp;Certification&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;Relay&nbsp;discipline&nbsp;OR&nbsp;Relay&nbsp;Tech Senior or Above, &amp; prior experience developing training materials.</li><li>Journeyman&nbsp;level work skills with&nbsp;training experience (classroom or on-the-job).</li><li>Demonstrated&nbsp;skill&nbsp;and&nbsp;ability&nbsp;to&nbsp;perform&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;associate&nbsp;distribution&nbsp;instructor&nbsp;level&nbsp;or&nbsp;previous experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs.</li><li>Previous&nbsp;technical&nbsp;experience&nbsp;(T&amp;D&nbsp;Skills&nbsp;instructors&nbsp;require&nbsp;journeyman&nbsp;level&nbsp;skill&nbsp;set&nbsp;in&nbsp;the Relay discipline).</li><li>Prior&nbsp;experience as a Relay instructor&nbsp;(classroom or on-the-job) is desirable.</li><li>Senior&nbsp;tech level skills in the area of relay crafts.</li><li>Must have knowledge of Relay Protective Schemes Practice Manual associated with Relay settings and testing of electro-mechanical and microprocessor Relays; knowledge of the materials&nbsp;and&nbsp;safety&nbsp;regulations&nbsp;necessary&nbsp;to&nbsp;perform&nbsp;Relay&nbsp;work&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;tools&nbsp;and&nbsp;equipment used to perform this work.</li><li>Must&nbsp;have&nbsp;a&nbsp;thorough&nbsp;knowledge&nbsp;of&nbsp;breakers,&nbsp;transformers,&nbsp;voltage&nbsp;regulators,&nbsp;capacitors, reclosers and other equipment functions and operating characteristics.</li><li>Must&nbsp;have&nbsp;advanced&nbsp;knowledge&nbsp;of&nbsp;electrical&nbsp;theory&nbsp;principals&nbsp;and&nbsp;laws&nbsp;for&nbsp;alternating&nbsp;and&nbsp;direct current.</li><li>Must&nbsp;be able to interpret blueprints, drawings, technical manuals and construction standards.</li><li>Must&nbsp;have&nbsp;the&nbsp;ability&nbsp;to&nbsp;interpret&nbsp;protective&nbsp;schemes,&nbsp;utilize&nbsp;test&nbsp;equipment&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;setting&nbsp;of relay characteristics, interpret results, troubleshoot techniques on equipment.</li><li>Excellent&nbsp;written and oral&nbsp;communication skills are essential.</li><li>Use&nbsp;the&nbsp;various&nbsp;computer&nbsp;systems&nbsp;available&nbsp;to&nbsp;test&nbsp;relays&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;field,&nbsp;along&nbsp;with&nbsp;providing documentation on those devices.</li><li>Demonstrated&nbsp;leadership&nbsp;skills,&nbsp;customer&nbsp;relations&nbsp;skills&nbsp;along&nbsp;with&nbsp;strong&nbsp;coaching&nbsp;and mentoring skills are a must.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left: 11.95pt;\"><i><strong>NOTE-&nbsp;Position&nbsp;does&nbsp;require&nbsp;travel&nbsp;across&nbsp;the&nbsp;supported&nbsp;FirstEnergy&nbsp;footprint&nbsp;of&nbsp;25-50%</strong></i></p><p><strong>Benefits, Compensation &amp; Workforce Diversity</strong><br><br>At FirstEnergy, employees are key to our success.
