The Family Specialist plays a key role in supporting at-risk youth and their families by coordinating therapeutic, skill-building, and family-focused services that promote safety, stability, and long-term independence within the home and community.

Job Responsibilities
• Maintains positive partnership with referring agency including coordinating required services for youth and families, maintaining timely and effective communication regarding case activities.
• Assists with providing crisis intervention services for youth experiencing acute distress and dysfunctional behaviors to address safety concerns.
• Provides supportive case work counseling to youth and families including all assessments, treatment and discharged plans.
• Coordinates psycho-educational groups as needed.
• Schedules and ensures youth’s home visits are goal oriented and work toward building trust, communication and healthy relationships.
• Facilitate comprehensive treatment reviews according to agency and state regulations.
• Completes all state mandated and agency documentation according to policy and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related behavioral science field.
• Minimum of 1-3 yrs. of experience working with diverse youth and families.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including night and weekend hours as necessary.
• Must have a current and valid driver's license with acceptable driving history to the Agency.
• Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse population.
• Skills: Ability to handle crisis intervention in solution focused manner as well as communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills.
Schedule & Travel Expectations
• Family visits typically occur twice per month per case and are structured in advance (generally no more than a couple of days per week dedicated to visits)
• Travel with youth may include medical appointments, school meetings/events, and community-based activities
• This role requires working one day every other weekend , with a scheduled Saturday or Sunday to support youth and participate in home visits
• The program has agency vehicles available for work-related travel when not in use
• When agency vehicles are unavailable, staff may use their personal vehicle and will receive mileage reimbursement
• All travel is local and completed within the workday —no overnight travel required
