font-size: 12pt\">The Water/Waste Water Field Maintenance Laborer position performs duties related to the construction and maintenance of public works projects, utilities, and parks.  This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"> <span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Specific Duties:</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Participates in the work of crews performing manual labor and semi-skilled tasks in public works projects, utility projects, parks, and grounds maintenance</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Operates moderate to light equipment including dump trucks, boom trucks, skip loaders front end loaders, bobcat attachments, weed cutters, mowers and hedgers, cement mixers, tank trucks, patch trucks, ditch witches, backhoes, and various other equipment in support </span>of a variety of maintenance operations</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Required Education, Degrees, Certificates, and/or Licenses:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">High school diploma or GED</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Class C Groundwater License</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Class II Wastewater License</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">The ability to obtain both of the above licenses within the time frame allotted by state regulations</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Minimum two years experience in maintenance work involving the skilled operation of moderate to light utility construction and maintenance</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Valid Texas Drivers License</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"> </span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Acceptable Experience and Training:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">A combination of education and experience that indicates a level of skill and knowledge necessary to fulfill the duties of the position may be considered in lieu of the education and experience requirements listed above.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Must lift, walk and carry light to heavy equipment and other items on a frequent basis. Must be able to read gauges and have sufficient color vision to distinguish types of utility locating markers. Must be able to climb ladders, crawl across pipelines, lift or carry 50 pounds while climbing a ladder or steep banks. Must be able to turn gate valves with a breaker bar if necessary, which could require 20 minutes of cranking. Occasionally will be required to lift manhole covers weighing in excess of 50 pounds several times a day.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND SAFETY CONCERNS </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Major physical inconvenience or discomfort is routinely present in the work situation. About 50-90% </span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">of the time the incumbent is outdoors, depending upon the assignment. The job requires the </span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">incumbent to be aware of and observe safe working procedures.
