Description
Summary
Reporting to the Director of Family Wellness, the ECB Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the agency's emerging challenging behavior program.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in psychology, education, or a related field from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of professional experience working with individuals with autism and/or their families
Excellent clinical, written and verbal communication, presentation, and leadership skills
Exceptional ability to analyze and articulate complex concepts and issues and communicate them to a variety of audiences
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and adjust to changing demands
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (e.g., Power Point, Word, Outlook)
Desired Qualifications
Licensed Behavior Analyst
Experience analyzing and interpreting research findings and information related to autism, its prevalence, its treatment, and various service delivery systems
Experience building relationships with both professional and autism community stakeholders across the spectrum
Responsibilities
Emerging Challenging Behavior Program
Plan, implement, and evaluate a program designed to address emerging challenging behavior via evidence-based and family-friendly measures in collaboration with state agencies, system partners, treatment providers, and funders
Department of Health-level responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1) maintain regular communication with department staff, 2) collaboratively establish metrics to monitor progress and inform program development for children with emerging challenging behavior, 3) review and enhance Case Management Referral System (CMRS) data fields and data entry practices related to children with autism, 4) participate in all relevant training, collaboration, quality assurance, etc. meetings, and 5) author an annual report summarizing the statewide strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of case management services for children with autism with a focus on those with emerging and severe challenging behavior
County-level responsibilities include but are not limited to cultivating and maintaining relationships with unit coordinators, senior case managers, case managers, and relevant county health department personnel
Case Manager technical assistance responsibilities include but are not limited to participating in the following: 1) assessing child and family needs, 2) facilitating communication among multiple providers, 3) providing service navigation assistance and clinical consultation to address emerging challenging behavior by assisting families and SCHSCM identify and secure needed services, 4) monitoring progress toward the attainment of Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals, 5) documenting all contacts and such attempts with all stakeholders, 6) complying with all established timelines for responsiveness, and 7) maintaining relationships with existing local and regional agencies serving youth with autism and their families
Clinical Expertise
Provide clinically-oriented recommendations for supporting families who are managing emerging challenging behaviors
Keep abreast of literature (e.g., prevalence, treatment, family support, funding streams)
Operations
Complete quarterly and annual reports in fulfillment of contractual obligations and internal metrics
Participate in the identification, co-authorship, and management of grant opportunities
Universal Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of and compliance with the agency’s Personnel Manual
Maintain all relevant professional standards including ethics, confidentiality and all applicable certifications and licenses.
Engage in professional development activities
Provide outstanding customer service
Collaborate across departments on various projects to support the agency’s mission
Represent Autism New Jersey in the community where appropriate
Participate in agency events and other activities as directed
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Director of Family Wellness and Executive Director
Notes
Unless otherwise specified, this is a 40-hour per week position that is exempt from overtime rules. The work week is typically Monday – Friday 8am-5pm and subject to approval by the Executive Director. The schedule may occasionally include weekends and evenings and vary depending on the needs of the agency.
