Media Source is home to trusted brands like Junior Library Guild, Library Journal , School Library Journal , The Horn Book, and AKJ Education . Media Source supports librarians through trusted brands that provide expert book reviews, collection development services, and timely coverage of issues and trends shaping the library profession—along with events that foster connection and professional growth. Media Source is simultaneously rebuilding two revenue-critical digital platforms: the TMG editorial publishing platform (Library Journal, School Library Journal, Horn Book) on a modern headless architecture, and the Junior Library Guild e-commerce platform on Shopify Plus with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP integration. These are not IT projects. They are business transformation initiatives with hard timelines, institutional customers, and direct shareholder visibility. TMG targets 6–9 months to live. JLG targets 3–4 months. Both are running in parallel. Both need to succeed. We need a Digital Program Manager who has done this before — someone who can hold two complex builds together simultaneously, manage vendors and developers without micromanaging, and keep leadership and stakeholders informed. About the Role You will own the program management of both platform rebuilds end to end. You will manage two developers — a TMG publishing platform developer and a JLG Shopify Plus developer — alongside external vendors including middleware and integration partners, platform providers, and any agency support engaged during the build. You report directly to the CEO. You are the organizational membrane between the build teams and the business — protecting developers from noise, protecting the business from surprises, and keeping both programs on track and on budget. Headquarter offices located in Dublin, Ohio. Would prefer a candidate Ohio based. Open to qualified remote candidates. What You'll Do Program Leadership Own the integrated program plan covering both TMG and JLG platform rebuilds simultaneously Define milestones, dependencies, and critical path for each workstream Identify and manage risks and interdependencies between the two builds — shared infrastructure, authentication, design systems, and account management Run weekly program reviews with developers and report status to CEO and CFO Prepare concise executive and board-level updates for H.I.G. stakeholders Vendor & Integration Management Manage relationships with Shopify Plus implementation partners and middleware vendors Own the Dynamics 365 and SAP integration workstream on the JLG build — coordinating between the developer, IT, finance, and the integration platform provider Manage the MarkLogic API workstream on the TMG build — coordinating between the developer and content/licensing teams Hold vendors accountable to scope, timeline, and quality Platform Selection & Procurement Manage the evaluation and final selection process for the TMG publishing platform — synthesizing demos, proposals, and vendor assessments into a clear recommendation Own contract negotiation and procurement for platform licenses, tools, and third-party services Maintain a vendor and tool register across both programs Stakeholder & Business Alignment Coordinate with editorial, commercial, operations, and finance teams to ensure platform requirements are accurately captured and prioritized Manage scope — push back on requests that threaten timeline or budget, escalate genuine business-critical changes Ensure go-live readiness: training, documentation, UAT, and operational handoff for each platform Budget & Reporting Track program budget across both workstreams — salaries, platform costs, vendor fees, and integration expenses Provide monthly spend-vs-plan reporting to CFO Flag budget risks early with recommended mitigations Skills & Experience Required Program Management 7+ years of IT or digital program management experience Demonstrated experience managing simultaneous platform builds or migrations — not just single-project delivery PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification preferred Strong command of project management tooling: Jira, Asana, Monday.com, or equivalent Experience managing remote, cross-functional teams and external vendors Technical Literacy Sufficient technical depth to manage developers credibly — you do not need to write code but you need to understand architecture decisions, API integrations, and platform trade-offs Familiarity with e-commerce platforms — Shopify Plus experience a strong bonus Familiarity with ERP/CRM integration projects — Dynamics 365 and/or SAP experience strongly preferred Understanding of headless CMS architecture and publishing platform landscapes Familiarity with subscription and paywall platforms Domain Experience Experience in digital media, publishing, or e-commerce platform environments Experience managing B2B or institutional commerce builds preferred Experience working in or alongside private equity-owned businesses a strong plus — understands pace, reporting expectations, and shareholder visibility Leadership & Communication Excellent written and verbal communication — able to translate technical complexity into clear business language for senior leadership Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities without losing momentum on either workstream Decisive and direct — comfortable pushing back on scope creep and escalating risks early What Success Looks Like JLG is live on Shopify Plus within 4 months, fully integrated with Dynamics and SAP, with zero manual data intervention required between systems. TMG is live on its new platform within 9 months, with editorial teams publishing independently, subscribers converting, and the MarkLogic licensing API operational.
