The Tooling Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of high-quality tooling systems, with a primary focus on thermoforming applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing precision tooling by accurately interpreting project requirements, ensuring it meets all criteria in the sales order and is manufacturable.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:&nbsp;</strong></p><ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;margin-left: -0.25in;\"><li>Thoroughly review sales orders and customer supplied documentation to ensure a clear understanding of the project.</li><li>Design and develop thermoforming tooling systems, including molds, dies, trim tools, and fixtures.</li><li>Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidEdge.</li><li>Lead tooling projects from concept through design, validation, and implementation.</li><li>Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure tooling designs meet performance, quality, and cost targets.</li><li>Perform design reviews, tolerance analysis, and simulations as needed.</li><li>Troubleshoot tooling issues on the production floor and implement design improvements.</li><li>Keep management informed of the project status when dealing with design concerns, customer requests, lack of information, or schedule problems.</li><li>Maintain accurate documentation, including BOMs, drawings, calculations and engineering change orders.</li><li>Continuously improve tooling standards and design best practices.</li><li>Occasional travel to customer plants or other BMG facilities as projects necessitate.</li></ol><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp;</strong></p><ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;margin-left: -0.25in;\"><li>A minimum of an associate&rsquo;s degree in engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology or a related field; prefer bachelor&rsquo;s degree in mechanical engineering.</li><li>Two years of mechanical design experience, with strong focus on tooling design.</li><li>Experience with CNC machining, mold making, or tool room operations.</li><li>Knowledge of thermoforming processes, material and heat transfer principles.</li><li>Proficient in SolidWorks and/or SolidEdge to create detailed manufacturing designs.</li><li>Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and GD&amp;T.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\" data-pasted=\"true\">A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis.
