The Patient Safety Specialist, under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer at University South Florida Tampa General Physicians (USFTGP), acts as an organizational resource to assist in the support of patient safety programs within Infection Control, Risk Management and Medication Safety. Works directly with USFTGP’s Quality Department to assist in the optimization of infection prevention practices, medication safety and staff adherence for compliance with established USFTGP policies and procedures and investigates safety reports. Gathers data detailing patient related errors and conducts analyses for management and detailing the cause of error. Is qualified to facilitate process improvement when needed.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with at least 3 years of Required experience in an ambulatory or community setting Florida Department of Health Nursing License CPPS, CPHQ or Ambulatory Care Nursing - Preferred Formal training in Patient Safety, LEAN, Six Sigma Green Belt, or APIC/CDC training - Preferred Risk Management Certification/or equivalent 3-5 years' experience - Preferred Understanding of various legal aspects related to risk, compliance, and healthcare regulations - Preferred
